About Chiropractic

What is a Chiropractor?

Chiropractors are primary care physicians with specialized expertise in diagnosing and treating neuromusculoskeletal conditions - relating to the bones, nerves, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. These conditions range from lower back disc injuries, sciatica, and arthritis to whiplash, torticollis, tendonitis, and more.

Chiropractic education is rigorous, consisting of a comprehensive six-year Master’s degree program. This advanced training includes in-depth study of Anatomy (including two years of cadaver dissection), Physiology, Histology, Parasitology, Microbiology, Immunology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Diagnostics, Radiology, Orthopedics, Neurology, and Biomechanics, among other disciplines.

Chiropractic practitioners utilize a wide range of techniques and modalities, including spinal and extremity adjustments, deep tissue massage, joint mobilization, muscle stretching, trigger point therapy (encompassing ischaemic compression and myofascial dry needling), rigid and dynamic taping, ultrasound, TENS, interferential current, cryotherapy, thermotherapy, myofascial active release techniques, and exercise rehabilitation.
